Buddy Brown Blues Festival
The 15th Annual Buddy Brown Blues Festival!
The 15th Annual Buddy Brown Blues Festival is taking place on Saturday August 1st from 11am to 7pm at Perigot Park in Blue Lake. The festival features the best of local Humboldt County blues musicians, and is named in honor of the late Buddy Brown, a Blue Lake blues musician who performed at the first Blue Lake Blues Festival in 2001 just a few months before he passed away.
Headlining the festival this year is the Jim Lahman Band. The rest of this year’s lineup features local blues favorites Buddy Reed and the Rip It Ups, The Uptown Kings, Black Sage Runners, The Secret Club and The Overstimulators.
The is a benefit for the Humboldt Folklife Society’s Folk School program, and features food by Blackberry Bramble as well as beverages from Mad River Brewery and Fieldbrook Winery.
Humboldt Folklife Society co-organizer Patrick Cleary said, “Buddy Brown was a very influential blues musician for many of us, and it is fitting that we keep his memory alive with this festival right in his own hometown. It is a great reminder that we have so many talented blues musicians living right here, and that this is an opportunity to showcase them and to help teach a whole new generation of musicians. ”
Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the gate. Advanced tickets are available at The Works in Eureka, and People's Records and Wildberries in Arcata. Children under 12 are admitted free!
